AgriLogic conducted research and analysis on improving the accuracy of the appraisal methods for alfalfa/grass mixture stand reduction appraisals listed in the Forage Loss Adjustment Standards Handbook. Specifically, AgriLogic researched stand reduction appraisal method(s) for “other grasses” which includes other grasses than alfalfa/red clover mixture. Such grasses included bunch and sod-forming grasses utilized in hay production.

The project team met with producers, grower association representatives, Forage APH loss adjusters, insurance company representatives, Cooperative Extension personnel, and other interested parties across the United States to gather input on methodologies for stand count appraisal for “other grasses”. The backbone of this project was grower and industry input and feedback.
