RMA provides risk management protection for dry beans under the Dry Bean Crop Provisions. The existing Loss Adjustment Standards Handbook lists yield factors (seeds per pound) and beans per plant factors for varying types/marketing classes. Producers expressed their desire for more detailed factors to be added by variety and practice. For example, the current handbook only lists a single yield factor and beans per plant factor for Pinto beans and/or Light Red Kidney beans.

AgriLogic worked closely with the National Dry Bean Council, state dry bean dealers, grower organizations and dry bean experts in each of the major dry bean production states including California, Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Washington to update and expand the list of yield factors utilized in loss adjustment.
