Hawaii Tropical Fruit & Tree
| Completed Projects |
Feasibility Study
The USDA Risk Management Agency contracted AgriLogic to determine the feasibility of crop insurance for nine different tropical fruit and tree crops in Hawaii. The nine crops included in the study are:
- Atemoya
- Banana
- Coffee
- Guava
- Lychee
- Mango
- Papaya
- Pineapple
- Rambutan
AgriLogic recommended the development of insurance policies for both the fruit and tree.
Development
AgriLogic developed two insurance policies, one for the fruit and one for the tree. The policies were developed for Banana, Coffee, and Papaya. The fruit is covered under a yield based (APH) policy while the tree policy is based on a Tree Based Dollar Amount of Insurance with a Comprehensive Tree Value Endorsement available.
