AgriLogic was awarded a partnership contract to provide risk management education to tropical fruit tree producers in Hawaii. The objective of this project was to educate Hawaii producers to better understand their operations and kinds of risk addressed by crop insurance, features of existing crop insurance products, and how to choose the best coverage to meet their needs. The results of this work was a complete risk management education package that included a CD-ROM, online risk management database, and on-site educational workshops. Areas to be covered included the production and market risk associated with their crop, producer understanding of their risk bearing ability and tolerance, and the fruit and tree insurance programs available to the producers.

To assist in making a successful program, project collaborators include Hawaii Cooperative Extension, several grower organizations and the Hawaii Department of Agriculture.
