AgriLogic Consulting's Recommendation Leads to Coverage for Specialty Barley and Soybeans
The recommendation from ALC was to implement coverage for malting, waxy hulled, waxy hulless and hulless spring barley types and large seeded food grade, small seeded food grade, low linolenic acid, low saturated fat, and high protein soybean types.
Spring barley types are insurable under an APH plan of insurance based on a contract price for the states of Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, and Washington, while soybean types are insurable under the same conditions in Arkansas, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, and Virginia. Coverage for winter type specialty barley will be available for the 2011 crop year. See RMA Memorandum for details.
